Happy New Year!

One of my Traci Lynn business partners, Kanoee Reynolds, posted the following today:

"Happy New Year! It's an opportunity for a fresh start or a new beginning. Be reminded that time is precious and each day is a gift. It's time to re-evaluate where we stand so that we could focus on where we are going. Whether it is to get physically fit, go back to school, or just allow more time for you, you can begin again. Each year we are afforded an opportunity to renew our hope and live a more fulfilled life.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 says, And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming it can hardly wait! And it doesn't lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time. This amplified version of this verse reminds us to write the vision boldly and make it plain. Your vision has to be big and bold so that it is always before you and etched in your spirit. This verse also reminds us to wait because even though you may not readily see it, it is on its way. Empowering Women, as we begin a new year, let's keep focused, let's encourage each other and believe that our dreams and desires ache for the coming and can hardly wait! It's time to begin, dream, believe, and see again!
2013 the year of the OVERFLOW..... The year of the YES!!!"

I love what she said here because it is so true. A new year forwards a person to start over if they wish or continue on a wonderful path with new dreams, new goals and new aspirations. I know I do. I am excited about the upcoming year because I have completely changed my mindset from the previous year. Its great. I am no longer with someone who I felt brought me down and did not support me like they claimed to. I told him toward the end, "I started the year with you and if I have to I'll end the year without you." With God on my side to help me get through it, that is what happened. I stop making resolutions a long time ago and began making goals of what I was GOING to do. Like my Kanoee said, 2013 is the year of the YES!!! I have personal goals and I have business goals. I intend to meet them. I realized that the only support that I need is from my Lord and Savior. I knew this all along and while I've struggled with my faith, I know that things happen for a reason and He has always shown me what that reason was. In 2012 I worked to build a stronger relationship with Him. I pray not just to ask for things but to simply say Thank You! Thank you for another day, thank you for my daughter, thank you for life and thank you for my family (even if we don't always get along). There is no doubt that every one is different but it works for me. My vision is clear, my goals are set. I have a life to live, a child to take care of and two businesses to run that I absolutely love. I eventually will get the wedding/event planning business I want. Things will come together for me because I claim it and I receive it. I want it so bad I can taste it. I see it and all I have to do is reach out and grab it. 2012 has been a pretty good year for me because I released all of the negativity that tried to come into my life. 2013 will just be a better year. I've grown over the years and over time dealt away with anything and anyone who did not mean any good in my life. So this is nothing new. Business wise I plan on making this a great year because I want to take both my businesses far for me and anyone who comes under me.

What I am trying to say is, take what you learned in not only 2012 but previous years and make positive changes for 2013. Don't let anything or anyone bring you down. For every negative, turn it into a positive. For every positive, find a way to build upon it if possible. If you speak positive things then positive things will happen. I'm going to have a wonderful year and I hope you do also. I know what I want and I know what I have to do in order to achieve it. Nothing comes for free. It requires hard and dedicated work and when I want something, I don't mind working hard, especially when I'm dedicated to something. I wish the same to everyone reading this. I also wish the same for your friends and family. I want to say Happy New Year to everyone and be safe out there tonight. I will see you in 2013!!

Happy Holidays!!

As the Christmas holiday approaches and the New Year is around the corner, I want to take this time to say Happy Holidays to everyone! Despite your religion or how you celebrate the holidays, I wish you and your family a wonderful and blessed holiday season

Take the time to remember those who were lost this year. Cherish your family and love every moment with them. In light of recent events, you never know when this life will end. If you haven't in a while, tell your family that you love them. Call that family member or friend that you got into a disagreement with and patch things up (of course if its worth it). The holidays are about family and giving. Give of yourself and it will be given unto you. Love is the key word this season.

Love is defined as: 1) a deep, tender feeling of affection toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness, 2) A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person, 3) An intense emotional attachment, and 4) The love of God or Christ for mankind, devotedness, devotion.

One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible come from 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, 7 and it states: "Love is patient and kind. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Chapter 13:13 states: "Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

Love one another this season. Make a resolution to love in 2013. Love God first and foremost. He will bring many blessings to your life. Even when you think things are at their worse, remember two things; 1) there is someone out there in a worse situation than you are and 2) God never puts more on you than you can handle. He tests you, but the question always remains, "What are you going to do to pass His test?" Faith and prayer are important. You cannot pray and worry. What is the purpose of praying and opening your heart to God if you are still going to worry and stress over your situation? Things will get better in the end. What it all boils down to is that when no one else does, God has your back. He is there for you. When times are tough, Hes there. When times get better, He does not leave you, He is still there.

Christmas is more than presents, Jesus is the real reason for the season. Give from the heart, not expecting anything in return. When you give from within, God will reward you. When you see that homeless person on the street, don't judge. Give him a bite to eat or even a dollar to help him out. The Salvation Army is out there ringing those bells like they do every year. Drop your spare change into that red bucket. Every time we go past one, my daughter always ask me if she can put some money in there. If I have the extra change I will give it to her so that she can donate it. It makes me feel good that she wants to do that. In return she and I will be blessed in one way or another. I give when I can because I want to and that is just the type of person I am.

So here is what I am asking of you this holiday season. 1) Love one another and those around you. Smile and be happy even if things aren't great. You are alive and that is something to smile about. 2) Give. 3) Have faith and pray. Give God just a minute out of your day. Whether you read a Bible verse, say a short prayer or something. Just give Him a few minutes of your time. You will reap the blessing because you are showing him that you want His love and you appreciate all He does for you.

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and a Happy Holidays! No matter your religion or what you celebrate, I love you and have a blessed one from my family to yours!!!

Ambition in Your Business

Ambition: 1. An eager or strong desire to achieve something. 2. Desire for exertion or activity; energy, strong desire for success, achievement, or distinction. 3. Goal; aim, aspirations  dream, ambitiousness, drive, aspirations, power.

The Bible: Proverbs 3:6 - In all your ways acknowledge the Lord, and He will make your paths straight

Psalms 20:4 - May God grant your heart's desires and make all your planes succeed.

Philippians 2:13 -  It is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.

What are your ambitions? What do you desire to be in life? These are the questions a person should ask themselves on a daily basis. Everyone has a goal or dream they want to reach. Whether that dream is in their personal or professional life. What is your dream? Is it to move up in your current company or apply for another position in another? Is it to own a home or have children? Even get a new car? Whatever your dream, you have to have to be ambitious about it. Who says you cannot  have what you want in life? Setting goals and having the desire to go for it will get you what you want. As the Bible says in James 2 "Faith without works is dead." If you do not put that first foot forward, you cannot expect to get anywhere. You are not going to get anything done sitting around and feeling sorry for yourself. Even if you get rejected, keep going and keep moving. Never stop pursuing your dream. Even if someone tells you "No" or "I don't think that's a good idea," you should keep going.

My dreams? To be my own boss and make a beautiful life for my daughter. How am I going to accomplish that? By working hard and getting out there in any way possible. I own two WAH businesses. Soon I am going to start a course on wedding/event planning. This is something I am passionate about. This is something I have been thinking about for a very long time now. Not many people know that. I've had negativity bring me down in the past. I have learned that you cannot let what others say and think impact your life. If it does make an impact, make sure its a positive outcome. If someone says you can't, SHOW them that you can and will. You do not have to prove anything to anyone. God knows your heart and knows what He wants for your life. Pray and move toward your dream. However, you cannot expect God to do all of the work for you. You have to take that first step. You have to show God that you really want this and are willing to work for it and to keep it. He knows your heart, but you still have to show him how bad you want it.

I do that by doing everything I can to get new customers. If I want to build my businesses and any future business, I have to get out there and promote myself. Not just online but in person also. I am kind of a shy person, but I have begun to learn to overcome that shyness. In my kind of business (or any business) you cannot be shy. You have to be willing to talk to people, even strangers. Customer interaction is key to your business. I am working on that. I see people all the time marketing their business and I am like, I need to do that. I wear my name tag every time I leave the house. One day it is Mary Kay and another it is Traci Lynn. People to look and they do ask questions. Right now I am limited since I do not have my own transportation. I do not let that stop me. When I do have a car I utilize that time in the best way possible. My first goal is to buy me a car at the beginning of the year. With that I do A LOT of internet marketing and making phone calls. You do what you have to do to make your money. Do not let anyone stop you. Keep having ambition and the strong desire to get what you want.

God wants you to be successful. You have to put in some work also. He cannot help you unless you are willing to help yourself. Keep praying and keep pushing for your dream. You dream and goals will happen and come true when God knows you are ready for it. Even when it seems as if things are going in a bad direction, keep pushing and praying. Sometimes you have to go through the bad in order to get to the good things that are coming to your life. God is testing you and you have to pass those tests so He can give you your reward. Be Ambitious! Reach for your goals. Let go and let God lead you. He is your guide and will lead you on the correct path. Use the same energy you use in your relationships to build your business. If you want it, go get it! I am going for mine, I know you can do the same. What is your motivation? My daughter is mine. It can be the house you want, the car you want, your children or the need to stop working for someone else. God Bless You!

All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible. - Orison Sweet Marden -

Happiness

Happiness is defined as: a state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Cheerfulness, gladness.

Psalm 16:11 - You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.

Psalm 144:15 - Happy are the people whose God is the Lord.

Proverbs 15:13 - A glad heart makes a happy face.

What makes you happy? You kids, your home, your husband, money or your job? People should be happy for what they have instead of dwelling on what they don't have . To be honest it could be worse. There are people who are worse off than us and therefore we should be blessed with what we have. Life would be so much easier. I am happy I can be an inspiration to some people. I am happy I have my beautiful daughter in my life. I am happy because I am developing my own business and I am happy that I have someone special in my life who loves and supports me. I am happy I am rebuilding my relationship with God. He has blessed me in so many ways.

What does it take to be happy? In my opinion, not much. People think money is the root to happiness. That cannot be further from the truth. There are people who are poor and are happy because they wake up everyday. I guess it depends on the individual. Different things make different people happy. Happiness comes from within. You have to be happy with yourself. You have to be satisfied with who you are. This comes before you can be happy with someone else. Less stress and not depressed makes for a happy life. If you're religious, pray. If you're spiritual, meditate. Take some time for yourself to see what makes you truly happy. I always say, "If I'm happy, everyone else will be happy." Everyone should keep that in mind also. It's all about being positive. SMILE! You never know what a smile will do to someone's day! At work or just walking down the street, keep a smile on your face!

Happiness is like jam; you can't spread it without getting some on yourself. - Barbara Johnson

Friendship

Friendship is defined as the quality or condition of being friends. A friendly relationship, good will, companionship, fellowship, society and company.
In Proverbs 18:24 it says that a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

Romans 12:16 says Laugh with your happy friends when they're happy; share tears when they're down. Get along with each other. Make friends with nobodies; don't be the great somebody.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 says two are better than on...if one falls down, his friend can help him up.

Friendship is a wonderful thing. Having great friends can help a person get through anything. As the Bible says, a real friend sticks closer than a brother. In most cases that is true. I have friends with whom I've been friends with since middle school. They've been there through the good and bad times. We've had our problems with each other, but we got over them. A big question that arises is whether or not men and women can be JUST friends (even if the guy is not a homosexual). The answer to that is yes. I have a male friend with whom after we dated and broke up maintained a great friendship. And not the whole "friends with benefits" concept. Really true and great friends. We both went on with our lives (getting married, having children, etc.) but maintained a great friendship. I believe a friendship makes for a great relationship. As friends, you get to know a person's personality, habits, likes and dislikes. If something develops between you and that person, you can tell if it is something you can deal with. Most people jump into it. Not every friendship makes for a good relationship. You have to ask yourself, "Why do I want to be with this person?" My friend and I decided to pursue a relationship (again) because we realized a few things. We were very young when we met and began dating. We were on and off for years but knew that being so young we weren't ready for what we thought we were ready for. As adults, we realize the love we have for each other that never left (he was my first). We knew what we had been real and felt we were ready to do this. We were right. Right now we are happy as ever. I feel like a little girl when I'm with him. He makes me laugh and always keeps a smile on my face. He wants nothing more than to make me happy and I feel weightless when I'm with him. If I'm going through a tough time he's there to encourage me to keep going. He has my back and I love that about him. He's my rock. He is my best friend.

Some people never find that. They look in the wrong place and end up dating the wrong people without getting to know them first. Your mate should be your friend...your best friend. In my opinion, the friendship is the interview before the relationship and the relationship is the interview before the engagement and marriage. If we think of it in that way, we would make better decisions before marrying someone. It’s true, you never really know someone but you can get pretty damn close. Pray before entering into a marriage. Let God lead you to the one He has picked out for you. If you open your heart and listen to Him, you will know. Sometimes the person you least expect has been right in front of your face for a long time. There is no perfect mate, just the perfect one for you. One who accepts your flaws and loves you just for who you are. Listen and you will hear.

We do not think of business relationships as friendships, but depending on your line of business, we have to. As an Independent Consultant for Mary Kay and Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry, I think of my customers as friends. In direct sales, you have to build a great repertoire with your customers so they will be repeat customers. You have a good time with your customers when you are telling them about new products. You do not want to just take their money and leave. You want to give them a good reason for coming back. Keep the friendship professional of course because you do not want to be taken advantage of. But do treat them with respect and a sense of friendship because not only do you want their repeat business, you want them to refer you also.

Friendship is a word that should not be taken lightly, however, choose your friends wisely. It can be applied to every aspect of your life. I am fortunate enough to have wonderful friends. Friends that I've been friends with for nearly 20 years. I've met people over time who I thought I could call friends, but I recognize when I'm being used, unappreciated, and just not treated in the same manner I treat them. I am also fortunate enough to be in a relationship where are base is friendship. We have fun together and we love each other and that makes for a great relationship. It took us 16 years to come to that realization, but we grew and we both know what we want. We have goals that we plan to reach and most importantly, we support each other. I wish that everyone in the world can experience that level of friendship in their life, love, business and relationships.

A faithful friend is an image of God - French Proverb
